Cary 7/8 Junior High School

A new 123,000sf junior high school to house 850 to 900 students. The building is long and rectangular in plan with a two-level open central circulation spine extending the entire length of the building. Flanking the circulation spine are two two-story classroom pods on one side and the two-level gymnasium/multipurpose facilities, cafeteria, and receiving area on the opposite side. The structure also houses a one-story administration wing. The building is framed entirely in structural steel. The roofs are flat and at varying elevations. A large skylight extends the entire length of the spine. The building is clad with brick masonry with clerestory windows in the gymnasium/multipurpose areas.
