| The project comprised major interior renovation of the existing 1920’s vintage hotel, including upgrades to the building’s mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP) systems. The existing reinforced concrete structure required extensive analysis for new MEP equipment. New equipment platforms were designed within the constraints of the existing building structure and new openings were required through the existing floors to accommodate new MEP equipment shafts. Work also included the demolition of an existing coal bunker area in the basement and redesign of existing vault areas under the sidewalk. All new construction had to be coordinated with the hotel’s operations, without disruption to their valued guests. | |
