The project is a new 41,000sf building which forms the
fourth side of a courtyard surrounded by three existing U-shaped
buildings. A new underground parking facility (65,000sf) creates the base
of the new building and extends underneath the existing courtyard. The new
building houses student gathering spaces, administrative and faculty
functions arranged on three floors. The second floor includes bridge
links to two of the existing buildings. The structural framing elements
are steel columns, a composite steel floor and roof framing supported by
concrete beams at the first floor. The parking garage slab and the
concrete basement walls are supported on caissons. |
