The project is a 5,800 square foot addition to an
existing church. It is one-story with multiple sloping roofs, and was
constructed with structural steel and metal deck. The addition extended an
existing 13’-0" deep truss spanning 45’-0", to an 80’-0" long truss by
removing an existing steel column and splicing the top and bottom chords.
The extended truss supports most of the roof over the addition, and is
exposed to the exterior through large windows. New 2’-6" deep sloping
trusses were also added to match the existing trusses. The roof overhang
was formed with sloped beams, which were tapered as they penetrated the
glass curtain wall. |
