The remodeling of this one hundred year old church
included relocating the main entry stair, adding an elevator for
handicapped accessibility, reinforcing a portion of the roof to receive a
new mechanical unit, adding a mechanical mezzanine, and expanding the
sanctuary by removing a bearing wall. Materials utilized in the structural
renovation included pre-engineered wood products, structural steel,
reinforced masonry, steel grating, and light gauge metal framing. The
location of the concrete elevator pit near the existing exterior wall
required the employment of an earth retention system to avoid undermining
the rubble foundation. |
