A $20 million
conversion of the 100-year-old historic Power House, once used for the
Sears Roebuck & Co. Headquarters, for use as a new Technical High School
serving 440 students. Structural requirements for the 70,000 SF project
include the renovation and retrofit of existing framing, and addition of
new framed levels within the building, with new elevator and connecting
stairs. Exterior work includes new multilevel exiting integrated with an
inactive rail spur catenary and hopper structure and the reconstruction of
existing vaulted sidewalk and historic stair. Project completion is
scheduled for end of 2008. |
