ARCHITECT: Perkins + Will

LOCATION: Taejon, Korea

Designed to be Taejon’s tallest building, the 400,000 sf structure was envisioned to serve as a center for heavy industry and chemical research. The structural system is a grid of 9m x 9.3m bays of steel framing. Architectural expression was achieved through the use of exposed steel. The long span roof areas in the atria dining room and auditorium; the multi-story curtain walls; the curved horizontal truss supporting the office areas; and the entry truss, are all areas that required the use of exposed steel to achieve the desired look.
